Food Pantry

NewHope Community Care offers food parcels and toiletries to people in need all year round. We have a constant supply of non-perishable foods as well as some refrigerated and frozen items and basic toiletries. Members of the community are able to come into NewHope to receive pre-packed food hampers.

To access food relief you may call NewHope reception on (03) 9890 7999 or we are open for walk-ins, Monday – Wednesday between 10am-2pm.

DONATIONS

Our Food Pantry runs because of the generous donations and grants we receive, as well as the work of our amazing volunteers.

There are donation points located at each of NewHope’s entrances, which can be accessed during office hours. We welcome donations of non-perishable food items and toiletries.

Community Cupboard

Give what you can, take what you need.

The cupboard is always open and it’s free for everyone! Fresh food donations are welcome but please do not leave items that need to be refrigerated. Non-perishable food pantry staples can also be donated to our food pantry via the blue bins found just inside the doors.

Our Community Cupboard is located outside of NewHope Baptist Church at 3 Springfields Road, Blackburn North. It was set up as an exciting way to participate in sustainable practices and reduce food waste in our local community.

We are pleased to partner with FoodFilled in stocking the Cupboard with excess foods from local retail partners. An exciting delivery usually comes each Friday and we invite you to come and check it out!

Food Swap

WHAT IS A FOOD SWAP?
A food swap encourages a community of like minded food gardeners to come together and share their excess homegrown produce. No money is exchanged, only home grown organic food surplus, gardening knowledge, and good company! Have a look at this short video to see how a food swap works.

WHO IS IT FOR?
All welcome! If you are a home gardener, come along and meet new friends, and discover new plants from others in our multicultural community. If you are hoping to begin growing organic produce in your own home garden, but don’t know where to start, come along and gain some knowledge from others in our community.

ABOUT THE NEWHOPE FOOD SWAP
