Middle Ground Café
A Social Enterprise transforming lives for the long term Contact UsDonate to Community CareThe need
We know that employable skills transform people’s lives for the long term. When people have work, their economic resources and social skills grow, and their self-esteem and confidence rises.
Not to mention a workplace is an amazing place to create life-giving relationships.
But the challenge for many people is the first step. Where are the entry points to employment? How can people get experience? How can they learn the basic skills of presenting themselves at interviews, writing a resume and working with others?
Responding to the need
Middle Ground Café at NewHope is moving to a hospitality-based social enterprise model. This new model will provide both job skills and experience in a Café environment, and a set of valuable life skills.
We seek to operate as a ‘transitional model’ collaborating with partner cafes through the eastern suburbs of Melbourne to enable long term employment opportunities.
Who might this impact?
We desire to empower, mentor and walking alongside those in our community who need support in building employable skills. We seek to do this by partnering with other local organisations to offer support to a wider network.
How can I get involved?
We are currently looking for people to join with us in developing this exciting project.
- People who are interested in joining the working group to help the Café during its transition phase.
- People interested in volunteering at Middle Ground Café. We are looking for waiters, baristas and kitchen-hands to work alongside people seeking employment opportunities.
All training will be provided. Contact us to find out more.
