At NewHope we have a significant multi-cultural community, which includes many asylum seekers and refugees. Much of the assistance and support we offer is through services available to all, such as the food pantry, practical assistance, English Classes, etc.
Further Support
Some needs are unique and language can be a challenge, so there are specific initiatives within these services to further support Asylum Seekers. We also network with and refer to agencies who can offer the support and expertise we are unable to, and walk alongside Asylum Seekers in accessing these services.
A Place to belong
Often the greatest need is a community and place to belong. The NewHope Community is multi-cultural and multi-lingual. There is a Chinese Community and also a sizable Farsi (Dari) speaking community, who embrace and support people seeking asylum and new to Australia.
